The Samman was presented to him by Dr Birbal Jha, Chairman, Mithilalok Foundation.  Mr Mirza, a Kashmiri Pandit, has been working in this prestigious newspaper for the last 25 years.

“I am elated to receive the Paag Honour from Mithila, the birth place of Hindus’ most revered Goddess – Sita, Mirza said.

He was thrilled to learn about Paag – symbol of prestige and royalty. An excited Mirza took no time to congratulate Mithilalok Foundation and Dr Jha for protecting, preserving and promoting Mithila’s culture. Under the dynamic leadership and vision of Dr Jha, the Foundation with its flagship programme, Save the Paag Campaign, has been working to advance the larger cause of Mithila and safeguarding India’s composite culture.

This ethnic headgear is distinct in its shape, color and value as well. “Paag is a symbol of Mithila’s asmita and this honour must reach to all deserving people irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and gender”, said Dr Jha.

The Foundation has launched Save the Paag Campaign in Delhi and other places where a large number of people especially Maithils were honoured with Mithila Paag. They also took part in Paag March – first-of-its-kind in the history of Mithila. People belonging to different socio-religious and political denominations took part with great enthusiasm.
