Lt Governor 'refuses' to meet Delhi ministers

New Delhi: Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Saturday alleged that Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung had "refused" to meet him and Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

Mishra said that he along with Jain had gone to meet the LG after Jung on Friday night asked Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to immediately return to Delhi from Finland.

SC modifies order, now asks Karnataka to give 12,000 daily to TN

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday told the Karnataka government to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu every day till September 20, modifying its earlier order of 15,000 cusecs.

A bench of Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit gave the direction while modifying its September 5 order by which it had asked Karnataka to release 15,000 cusecs of water every day for the next ten days.

ABVP bags three seats, NSUI makes comeback in DUSU

New Delhi: RSS' student outfit ABVP maintained its dominance in DUSU polls bagging three seats including that of President, while Congress' NSUI made a comeback by winning the Joint Secretary's post in the results announced today.

Amit Tanwar is the new President of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) while ABVP's Priyanaka and Ankit Singh have been elected as Vice President and Secretary respectively, according to the Chief Election Officer for DUSU elections, D S Rawat.

Girls in skimpy clothes to be denied entry in MP temple

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): The management of a Jain temple here has asked visitors to ensure that girls aged above eight years are not dressed in skimpy clothing or in jeans, capri pants, gowns, and the like when they come to the temple.

Only girls and women "dressed decorously in line with Indian cultural norms with their head covered" would be granted entry into Shri Rushabh Dev temple in Chhagniram Pedhi in Kharakuan area in Ujjain district, the temple trust said.

Minor student beaten to death for not paying fees

Imphal: A class six student was allegedly beaten to death by school officials as his parents could not pay the fees in time, police said.

The police have registered a case against the school officials for beating Suresh Tongbram to death. They will be arrested if the post-mortem report establishes unnatural death, a police source told IANS.
