Japan wakes up to global 'ransomware' cyberattack

Tokyo: Japan has fallen victim of a global "ransomware" cyberattack that has created chaos in 150 countries, with hundreds of computers hit at 600 locations.

Nissan Motor Co confirmed today some units had been targeted, but there was no major impact on its business. Hitachi spokeswoman Yuko Tainiuchi said emails were slow or not getting delivered, and files could not be opened.

Beijing: India's refusal to join China's high-profile Belt and Road initiative is "regrettable" but New Delhi's boycott will not at all affect the cooperation in infrastructure development among its neighbouring countries, a report in a state-run newspaper said today.

Not enough evidence to disqualify Sharif, rules Pak's SC

Islamabad: Pakistan's Supreme Court on Thursday said there was not enough evidence to disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and ordered a fresh probe into corruption charges as revealed in the Panama Papers.

While Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Gulzar Ahmed called for Sharif's disqualification, the other three judges said there must be a new multi-agency investigation into the allegations against the Prime Minister and his family.

Topless feminists interrupt Le Pen's Paris rally

Paris: The rally of the French far-right candidate Marine Le Pen, which brought together more than 5,000 people here, was interrupted twice by two topless feminists, a media report said.

On Monday, with a bouquet of flowers, the first woman jumped onto the stage where Le Pen was delivering her speech, before the security services of her party, the National Front (FN), came in, Efe news reported.


US man broadcasts killing on Facebook Live  

Cleveland (Ohio): Police on Monday were searching for a man who allegedly killed an elderly man in the US state of Ohio and broadcast the killing live on Facebook.

The suspect, Steve Stephens, later said in a separate video post that he had killed 13 people and was looking to kill more, BBC reported.
