Now wear saree to visit Kashi Vishwanath temple

Varanasi: Foreign women visiting world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi will now have to wear saree.

The temple administration has introduced a dress code, saree, for foreign women visit the shrine.

The latest decision came in the wake of several complaint by temple priests about foreign women turning up in shorts, calf-length pants and sleeveless tops.

The temple administration, however, made it clear that foreign visitors wearing a pair of jeans or salwar-kameez wouldn't need to change the dress.

The trust officials have already provided 25 sarees at the two entry points of the temple and deployed female police personnel to assist such pilgrims.

On an average, 60,000 devotees visit the temple every day with around five per cent of them being foreigners.
